Why join CAS
CAS is a collaboration between a number of participating churches, acting as a Registered Body within the terms of the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and acting between the CRB and the participating churches.
As a member of CAS you will receive the following benefits:
• We will handle your applications for CRB disclosures and ISA registration and forward them to the CRB.
• We will receive Disclosures from the CRB, interpret the information contained and give you advice as appropriate.
• We will provide an initial risk assessment based upon the Disclosures to an agreed standard and will assist in further investigation.
• We will provide letters on each Disclosure to individuals, to the authorised verifier or recruiter in the local church or nationally and a copy to the denomination/ recruiting body as appropriate for applicants not deemed unsuitable.
• We will conduct an audit of the relevant policies and security arrangements of the existing members periodically.
• We offer safeguarding information and advice on child protection and vulnerable adults
Membership of CAS is open to any Christian based organisation. All participating denominations or organisations must comply with all security and data storage arrangements of CRB/ CRBS, as set out in CRB and CRBS Codes of Practice.
