Who should apply?

Those who hold a childcare position as defined by the Protection of Children (Scotland) Act 2003 should apply for an Enhanced Disclosure. The sections most likely to apply to positions in voluntary organisations define child care positions as those:
• whose normal duties include caring for, training, supervising or being in sole charge of children;
• whose normal duties involve unsupervised contact with children under arrangements made by a responsible person; or
• whose normal duties include supervising or managing an individual in a child care position.

In addition, for those voluntary sector bodies that are also Scottish charities then trustees of that charity who are concerned with its management or control may be covered under paragraph 6(e) of Schedule 2.

It is also good practice to seek a Disclosure for those who work with Adults at Risk in the provision of a social care or health service. (if you think you may be eligible for an Adults at Risk check becuase you are providing a social crae service, please complete the AAR checklist from CRBS which can be found in the resources for applicants section.)

Disclosures for volunteers are free of charge but Disclosure Scotland charge £23 for applications for paid positions. Please make cheques payable to Disclosure Scotland.
