What happens

When CAS receive a completed Disclosure application form we;
• Enter the applicant’s details into our database
• Carefully check that the form has been accurately completed and sufficient evidence of identity has been seen by a registered verifier,
• Complete Section Y of the form, to confirm that it is a legitimate application and
• Forward the form to the Criminal Records Bureau.

The Criminal Records Bureau then;
• Check the form for errors
• Scan the form onto their system
• Check the Police National Computer for details of any cautions, convictions etc.
• If requested, check the lists of those who are barred from working with children and/or Vulnerable adults
• Send the application to the relevant local police forces so that they can check if they hold any relevant information.
• Print two copies of the Disclosure, one for the applicant and one for the Registered Body/Umbrella Body.

The CRB aims to process 90% of Enhanced Disclosures within 28 days.
