How to apply?

To apply for a DBS check through CAS your church/organisation must first be a member of CAS.  Please see the membership page for more information if you are not currently a member of CAS.

Next, an individual can either apply using our online electronic application form by first obtaining login information from their verifier and going to the webpage https://disclosure.capitarvs.co.uk/cas/ to complete the application form, otherwise if an individual wishes to apply using the DBS paper application form, this can be obtained from their church verifier. Different denominations and organisations have different routes for distributing the forms, please click here for more information.

To apply using the online application form, the applicant should contact their church verifier who will provide an organisational code and password to allow the applicant to log in to use the system. The applicant should inform the verifier once the application form has been completed and arrange to have their identity documents validated.

If the applicant applies using a paper form, they should complete Sections A, B, C, D and H of the form and take it to their local verifier along with the required number of identity documents.  (The verifier is often the Church Secretary, Minister, Clerk of Meeting, Child Protection Co-ordinator etc.

Please check with your church/organisation or with CAS if you are not sure who can verify your application.  We will not be able to process the application if the verifier has not been registered with us.)  The verifier completes Section X of the Disclosure application form, a CAS form and Documentary Evidence sheet.  Their role is to check that the form has been completed correctly and to verify the applicant’s identity through checking their identity documents.

The completed paper application forms and any payment (if necessary) should then be sent by the verifier to CAS, 25 Marylebone Road, London, NW1 5JR. The CRB charge a fee of £44 for an Enhanced Disclosure for a paid worker.  The CRB do not make any charge for volunteers.   CAS associate members are charged an administrative fee of £12 per application.  All cheques should be made payable to the Churches' Agency for Safeguarding (or CAS) please.
