Vetting and Barring Scheme put on hold
The Home Secretary has announced that the Vetting and Barring Scheme is going to be reviewed, with the aim of 'scaling it back to common sense levels.' ISA registration, due to begin in July, has now been put on hold.
The changeover to the new forms will go ahead as planned but now the forms will only be used to apply for a CRB check. The CRB will start processing the new forms from the 26th July. As a result of

Please note that CAS will continue its CRB processing service as normal. However, due to the large number of forms we received in the run up to our deadline for changeover to the new CRB/ISA forms, the processing of non-priority applications has taken longer than our 5 day turnaround target, therefore, we apologise for any inconvenience this might cause and assure you that we are doing our utmost best to ensure applications are processed within reasonable time.

- Providing an efficient Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) disclosure and Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA)/Vetting and Barring Scheme (VBS) registration support service

- Offering safeguarding training, information and advice; and

- Working with members to positively influence public policy on safeguarding
